You haven’t visited Europe if you don’t stop by Barcelona in Catalonia region of Spain! This breathtakingly beautiful Gaudi city is rich with centuries worth of cultural heritage which mixed with contemporary, urban and international vibe and mild Mediterranean climate makes a perfect vacation spot for young people and families, oh…and an absolute Mecca for shoppers and gourmands. Be sure to try Barca’s traditional churros with hot chocolate!

High end boutiques are adorning city’s shopping street Passeo De Gracia, through to the more popular Spain’s own high street brands like Zara and Mango- enticing high street shoppers at Placa Angel then filtering down to vintage and second-hand boutiques like Blow and Le Swing vintage within the narrow Carrer’s of Raval and Gotico.

Barcelona has a long tradition of fashion and style. Barcelona is famous for shoes called espadrilles, which even the Barcelona police used to wear and which are widely popular this fashion season with even Chanel and YSL showing them on runway.

The traditional importance of fashion is reflected in Barcelona’s drive to become a major fashion centre, as per it’s fashion event offering and developing industry it could be definitely considered the emergent “catwalk” of the Mediterranean, challenging other fashion capitals of Europe like Milan and Paris.

080 CODE FOR FASHION

080 is the code for style in Barcelona, each January and July Barcelona’s own fashion week   080 Barcelona takes place each time in a different historic city venue. The 080 Barcelona Fashion Week is the  product of the Catalan Government with a goal of further developing and internationalizing textile production in Catalonia (part of Spain where Barcelona acts as capital city). The event features established designers and fashion brands like: Isabel Toledo, Custo Barcelona, Desigual, TCN and Mango but also young emerging designers like: Manuel Bolaño, Georgina Vendrell, Sita Murt and Selim de Somavilla.

THE PLACE TO FIND ‘THE DRESS’

Brides to be can find no better place for finding ‘the dress’ then Barcelona. The city is worlds epicenter of bridal industry known by it’s bridal fashion week  taking place each May and hosting more then two hundred wedding dress brands with the best known being   Pronovias with headquarters in Barcelona. Pronovias brand recently celebrated their 50 year anniversary with beautiful exhibition named ’50 Love Stories’ featuring 50 pieces which took us through over the half-century history of Pronovias and the brand’s aesthetic evolution, changing inspirations, techniques, trends, historical events, and the society of each time and the woman who once was the star of the dress.

Overall, the fashion in Barcelona is as rich and diverse as its architecture, both equally impressive offering from Classical and Romanesque to Gothic and Baroque influences. One can never be bored in this gorgeous city where there are always fiestas, fashion and cultural events on the streets and in city’s beautiful historic venues and galleries.
