My top 5 fashion videos.

Sunday, July 28, 2013

For a while now I have been collecting a playlist of my favorite fashion videos almost as tediously as I am collecting my Vogue and Elle Collection magazines, God knows I will need to have a room in my apartment soon just to store those.

In this post I would like to share with you my top 5 favorite fashion videos and some of the most memorable quotes I remembered from each, there are certainly more of the videos I adore on my list but I wanted to share the ones which inspired me most. Most are a bit long so I suggest you grab a coffee and find a comfortable, quite place to watch these, I promise it will be educational, motivational and worth your time.

This movie is quite a rare footage and a sneak peak into this fashion designer and Oscar nominated film directors daily life after opening his own design studio for his own name brand - Tom Ford (for men and women).  Absolutely worth watching!

"I like to build things, that's what makes me happy, that's what I like to do."
"You got to figure out what you love in life."
Tom Ford

This amazing exhibition was organized by The Costume Institute and it celebrated late Alexander McQueen's extraordinary contributions to fashion all the way from his Central Saint Martins postgraduate collection of 1992 to his final runway presentation which took place after his death in February 2010. Curator explains the exebition all through the video so you will fee as if you saw it in person. Amazing thing to see!

"McQueen used fashion as a vehicle to express very complex ideas and concepts."
"McQeen often called himself the Edgar Allan Poe of fashion."

This video is done by Net-a-porter TV and it is quite fun, as everything else about Karl. So it is done in a way that Karl is interviewing himself. I love his accent and his blunt honesty. Quite an intriging persona if you ask me! I personally adore him!

"I never prepare anything, I always improvise, but very professional improvisation."
"I never talk about the good all days but I'm not sure they were that good, just old."
"I don't deliver the description of my person, you have what you see."
"Are you easily bored? What a strange question."
Karl Lagerfeld

After retiring after 10 years as an editor in chief of French Vogue Carine Roitfeld made a triumphant return to Paris Couture Week and W cameras went a long for a ride following this charming and endlessly chic editrix to more then 20 fashion shows, fittings and two day shoot with photographer Paolo Roversi.

"Now I am like a butterfly I am flying from one flower to another flower. It's perfect."
"Your models are a bit fat Karl."
Carine Roitfeld

One of my favorite fashion editors and global style icon and Vogue Creative Consultant Anna Dello Russo visited Dubai to celebrate Symphony's first birthday party so they did a long (25 min) interview with her in the Arabian desert. Although her English is far from perfect, I love her comparisons, her style and how playful and down to earth she is! Adore her! I wish I look and act as young as her at her age!

"I have a lot to say now from a personal POV,
I used to work as a soldior in a corporate company."
"My mantra is always - go bold. Never be afraid, try, take a risk."
"I like young people because in fashion it is really important to keep your eyes fresh,
I like their energy."
"Fashion is like yoga, everyone wants to come but there is a lot of selection afterwards. It's a bit of an attraction but it is a lot of work."
Anna Dello Russo
